CARE GROUPS are an important part of our daily spiritual walk, providing a nurturing place to ask questions, share concerns, pray, use your gifts to help others and be supported in the challenges of life.
Groups take place around greater Victoria – some meet weekly, others bi-monthly or monthly, Some groups gather via Zoom, or ‘safely distanced’ at the church.
- Quilting/Comforters: Making quilts, donated to MCC for refugees or emergencies around the world. See www.mcccanada.ca/get-involved/kits/comforters. Women & friends are welcome; gathering in the lower hall to make quilts (except in summer). Contact the office for details.
- ‘Food Bank Garden’ project: Volunteer participants work from May-Oct. in our church garden – planting, nurturing & harvesting vegetables/fruit to donate via the Mustard Seed Food Bank to needy people of Victoria. This project commenced in 2007 and works in conjunction with A Rocha Canada www.arocha.org/int-en
- Women’s Bible Study & Fellowship – Join us on Tuesdays 9:30am-11:30am (mid-Sep. to May) at the church – now meeting in-person and via Zoom.
- Men’s Breakfast & Prayer – Mondays at 8:00 am (approx. Oct.-June) via Zoom during Covid.
- Bible and Book Studies: Meeting in homes around town to discuss books and/or scriptures with a focus on spiritual growth – these take place various days of the week, with most running from mid-Sept to May.
- Refugee Resettlement: S.C.C. sponsored a refugee family in 2016 under the Canadian government’s blended visa program with the support of Mennonite Central Committee. We are in the process of bringing a new family to Canada again with the support of M.C.C., and aiming for 2023 (or as soon as Malawi allows for their departure).
